Pozzo è una popolosa frazione del comune di San Giovanni Lupatoto. L'origine di questa località è molto antica in quanto si trovano riferimenti in documenti addirittura antecedenti l'anno 1000. Nella designatio del 1251 viene citata la località appunto con il toponimo apud Putheum (presso il Pozzo).
Probabilmente il toponimo deriva dalla natura dei terreni circostanti costituiti da materiali alluvionati e permeabili. Questi terreni non permettevano la presenza di acqua in superfice quindi i primi modesti insediamenti sopperivano a questo problema con la realizzazione appunto di pozzi.
E' difficile individuare il pozzo che ha dato il nome alla località però uno di questi, ancora esistente, è di particolare interesse. Si trova nell'antica Via Dogana, vicino alla storica Corte Wallner, ed era uno dei più grandi della zona. Profondo circa 10 metri, rivestito al suo interno di cotto, misura circa due metri di diametro che diventano quasi tre alla base. Separato da un muro di ciottoli che delimitava le due corti contigue, "serviva - ricorda un anziano - alle necessità domestiche di numerose famiglie, ad abbeverare gli animali, ed anche nelle estati più torride, aveva sempre l'acqua."
Le sue dimensioni e la sua vicinanza all'antica stazione di dogana austriaca che ha dato il nome alla via gli danno un particolare rilievo. E' probabilmente quello rappresentato in una mappa del luogo del primo Quattrocento. (cit. Pozzo Camacici e Dintorni di Giovanni Tosi).
Per rendere omaggio al nome della frazione nel 2019 un'associazione locale ha fatto installare proprio un pozzo al centro della rotonda della strada che conduce a Verona. Lo stile è un po' discutibile, ispirandosi più a Walt Disney che alle tradizioni locali. Però la sua posizione, sulla principale via d'accesso alla località, ricorda al moderno viaggiatore l'importanza per l'antico viandante di questo crocevia dove poteva trovare con sicurezza un bene prezioso ora come allora: l'acqua.
La multi, molto breve con soli due stage, si snoderà tra moderno e antico pozzo nella continuità della storia di .... Pozzo.

Pozzo is a populous village in the municipality of San Giovanni Lupatoto. The origin of this locality is very ancient as it is remembered in previous documents prior to the year 1000.
In the designatio of 1251 the locality with the toponym Apud Putheum (near the Well) is mentioned. Probably the toponym derives from the nature of the surrounding soils constituted by flooded and permeable materials. These lands are not foreseen by the presence of water on the surface therefore the modest settlements are the first to make up for a problem with the construction of wells.
It is difficult to know the fact that there has been, it is of particular interest. It is located in the ancient Via Dogana, near the historic Corte Wallner, and was one of the largest in the area. Deep about 10 meters, covered with terracotta inside, it measures about two meters in diameter that become almost three at the base.
Separated by a wall of pebbles that delimited the two adjoining courtyards, "it served - an old man recalls - to the domestic needs of numerous families, to water the animals, and even in the hottest summers, it always had water."
Its size and its proximity to the ancient Austrian customs station which gave its name to the street give it a particular importance. It is probable that it is in a map of the place of the early fifteenth century. (Pozzo Camacici and Dintorni by Giovanni Tosi).
To pay tribute to the name of the hamlet in 2019, a local association installed a well in the center of the roundabout on the road leading to Verona. The style is a bit questionable, inspired more by Walt Disney than by local traditions. But its position, on the main access road to the town, reminds the modern traveler of the importance for the ancient wayfarer of this crossroads where he could safely find a precious asset now as then: water.
The multi, very short with only two steps, will wind between modern and ancient well in the continuity of the history of .... Pozzo.
