水湳洞漁港位於台2線濱海公路旁，與對面的十三層遺址及長仁社區遙遙相對。在濱海公路要轉彎前往金瓜石黃金博物園區的這個路口，也就是在水湳洞停車場附近，有一條在濱海公路旁的小路往下就可以到達水湳洞漁港。水湳洞漁港的部份海面，海水為藍色及黃色分開，呈現著很強烈的對比。這是由於金瓜石的岩石中，含黃鐵礦的成分高，而且台灣的東北角又屬於多雨地區，所以大量的雨水滲入礦石，讓水呈現酸性，而且礦石上的氫氧化鐵，經由雨水的沖刷後夾帶了大量礦水流入海中，致使海水中含有高量黃褐色的氫氧化鐵飄浮在海面上，而且水湳洞附近海灣內的海流擴散能力較為不足，所以形成如此的奇觀。其實這一層黃色的懸浮物質大約只佔約海平面三公尺的深度，在海平面的三公尺以下則又恢復為藍色的海水。
The Shuiyudong Fishing Port is located beside the Binhai Highway on the 2nd Line,
opposite the 13-storey ruins and the Changren Community.
At the intersection of the coastal road to the Jinguashi Gold Museum,
that is, near the Shuiyudong parking lot,
there is a small road next to the coastal road to reach the Shuiyudong fishing port.
Part of the sea surface of the Shuiyudong fishing port,
the sea water is separated by blue and yellow, showing a strong contrast.
This is because the rock of the gourd stone contains high pyrite content,
and the northeast corner of Taiwan belongs to the rainy area.
Therefore, a large amount of rainwater seeps into the ore, making the water acidic,
and the iron hydroxide on the ore passes through the rainwater.
After the scouring, a large amount of mineral water is entrained into the sea, causing high-yield yellow-brown iron hydroxide to float on the sea surface,
and the seawater diffusion capacity in the bay near the Shuiyu Cave is insufficient, so such a spectacle is formed.
In fact, this layer of yellow suspended matter only occupies about three meters of sea level,
and returns to blue water below three meters below sea level.
