The original settlement for the community of "Coalbanks", later known as Lethbridge was in the river valley. Can you imagine living here before the bridge was built? The beautiful home of Elliott Galt at this location was called "Coaldale". Flooding of the river valley was an issue so the community of Coalbanks was moved to the prairie level in 1885.
