Swannington village has an unique industrial history which dates back for hundreds of years. Evidence of very early forms of coal mining can still be found at many sites in and around the village. Some of the most innovative work of the great railway pioneers, George and Robert Stephenson, can be seen here. The Swannington Incline is perhaps one of the best known features of the Leicester and Swannington Railway, one of the worlds earliest lines. This is where the line connecting the incline to the main LSR crossed Spring Lane and later became the site of Snibston No3 Colliery. Nearby are some information boards/plaques about this Colliery.
To find this cache you must read these information boards/plaques and answer some questions.
