Neptun factory Traditional Cache

This cache has been archived.

Nikrmana: Unfortunately there's been some continuing issues with this cache and there is no reaction from the owner. Thus as there is no option to replace the cache, I am archiving it. I'm also archiving it to keep it from continually showing up in search lists, and to prevent it from blocking other cache placements.

If you wish to repair/replace the cache sometime in the future, please contact Geo Sova or Nikrmana by send email from their profile, with a cache GC number included. Assuming cache meets the guidelines, we'll be happy to unarchive it.

Geocache Description:

Ovaj Geocach skriven u staroj tvornici Neptun

This Geocache is hidden in the old Neptun factory

HR:

EN:

By 1914, there were eight fish processing factories in Komiza.

The oldest among them is the Neptun factory, opened in 1870. It is known for processing sardines and anchovies. Factory fed almost all families in Komiza. Many workers had secure job in the factory. Most of the workers were femaile workers. The factory worked successfully until the Homeland War in the 90s of the last century. It closes in 1993, and two years later, on the feast of St. Nicholas opens again. Factory ended up in bankruptcy in May 2003.

Bankruptcy, big company debts and loss of market, have ruled this oldest fishing industry in the Mediterranean.

At the time of the factory's work, even Americans learned how to make a "durable" product from fish.

Today, the plant is private owned by a South African entrepreneur and has never been restored.
