Ο Εμπράρ γεννήθηκε στις 4 Σεπτεμβρίου 1875 στο Παρίσι και σπούδασε στη σχολή Καλών Τεχνών του Παρισιού και στην Villa Medicis στη Ρώμη. Από τα φοιτητικά του ακόμα χρόνια θα υιοθετήσει νέες αντιλήψεις για την αναδιοργάνωση των πόλεων και θα αναγνωριστεί ως ένας από τους πιο σημαντικούς πρωταγωνιστές της αρχιτεκτονικής του 20ού αιώνα. Το 1918, διορίστηκε καθηγητής στο Εθνικό Μετσόβιο Πολυτεχνείο και μέλος του Ανώτατου Τεχνικού Συμβουλίου από την ελληνική κυβέρνηση. Το 1927 διορίσθηκε σύμβουλος του υπουργείου Παιδείας όταν του ανατέθηκε η εκπόνηση μελέτης για την πανεπιστημιούπολη της Θεσσαλονίκης. Ember was born on September 4, 1875 in Paris, and studied at the School of Fine Arts in Paris and Villa Medicis in Rome. From his still student years he will adopt new ideas for the reorganization of cities and will be recognized as one of the most prominent protagonists of the 20th century architecture. In 1918, he was appointed professor at the National Technical University of Athens and member of the Supreme Technical Council by the Greek government. In 1927 he was appointed adviser to the Ministry of Education when he was commissioned to conduct a study on the campus of Thessaloniki.
