Es handelt sich um einen kleinen Multi mit 2 Zwischenstationen und dem Final. Die Wegstrecke befindet sich teilweise auf den Spuren von Karl Marx (ausgenommen ist der Weg zum Final (s.u.)) und ist nicht länger als 3 km.
Der erste Band von dem wohl bekanntesten Werk von Marx - „Das Kapital“ - ist in Hamburg beim Verlag Otto Meissner 1867 erschienen. In ihm und den folgenden beiden Bänden beschreibt und analysiert Marx die kapitalistische Produktionsweise.
Karl Marx in Hamburg:
Am 12. April 1867 stieg Karl Marx aus dem Segelraddampfer „John Bull“ an den Landungsbrücken aus und begab sich zu Zingg´s Hotel (heute Deutsche Bank(!)), das gegenüber der Börse, einem Sinnbild kapitalistischer Produktionsweise, lag. Anschließend ging er zum Verlagsgebäude in der Bergstraße und lieferte sein Manuskript ab, worauf seit 2017 eine privat gestiftete Tafel hinweist. Danach „kneipte“ er mit seinem Verleger Otto Meissner.
Insgesamt war Marx mindestens fünf Mal in Hamburg. Er stieg in Hotels am Jungfernstieg ab, schlenderte durch Sillem´s Bazar, eine Einkaufspassage mit dem damals größten Angebot in „Deutschland“ und verkehrte in den besten Hamburger Kreisen, um Geld zu akquirieren, weil er chronisch pleite war.
Hamburg kann stolz darauf sein, dass „Das Kapital“ in allen drei Bänden von der Freien und Hansestadt aus seinen Weg um den Globus vor gut 150 Jahren angetreten hat.
Zum Cache:
Eigentlich sollte das Final in der ABC-Straße sein, weil dort der Programmentwurf des Bundes der Kommunisten diskutiert wurde, der später als das Kommunistische Manifest (Marx / Engels 1848) in die Geschichte einging. Aufgrund von Abstandskonflikten war das nicht möglich. So mussten wir das Final etwas auslagern. Ein inhaltlicher Bezug des Ortes zu Marx ist nun leider nicht mehr gegeben. Bitte legt den Cache sorgfältig und gut getarnt zurück.
Die Koordinaten der Zwischenstationen sind genau, allerdings führt gelegentlich bei manchen Geräten das GPS-Signal 20 bis 30 m von dem richtigen Ort weg. Deswegen haben wir bei den Fotos hinweise zur ersten und zweiten Zwischenstation hinterlegt.

At hand we have a small multi cache consisting of two waypoints and a final. On solving the mystery, apart from the way to the final, you will come across the tracks Karl Marx has left in Hamburg. The walk does not exceed two kilometers.
The first volume of Marx’s Capital which is probably his most famous line of work was published in Hamburg by Verlag Otto Meissner in 1867. The central topic of this and the following volumes is an analysis of the methods and means of production in a capitalist system.
Karl Marx in Hamburg
On the 12thof April 1867 Marx arrived in the sailing paddle wheeler “John Bull”. He went on shore at Landungsbrücken and proceeded to check into Zingg´s Hotel (which is the Deutsche Bank(!) today), which was based opposite of the stock exchange, an epitome of the capitalist method of production. After that he ventured on to the publishing house on Bergstraße and handed in his script, a privately funded sign points to that fact since 2017. Afterwards, he and the publisher Otto Meissner went for drinks.
In total, Marx visited Hmaburg at least five times. He checked into Hotels at Jugefernstieg, strolled through Sillem´s Bazar, which was a shopping arcade with the largest variety of products available in Germany at that time. The chronically broke Marx also set out to bond with the inner circles of the Hamburg society for his money problems to be alleviated.
Hamburg can be proud of the fact that 150 years ago, all three volumes of ‘Capital’ made their way from Hamburg into the world.
Regarding the cache:
Actually, the final was supposed to be on ABC-Straße, since there the blueprint of what later became ‘The Communist Manifesto’ (Marx / Engels 1848) was discussed. However, due to other close caches this was unfortunately not possible, so we had to move the final to a spot that has no link to Marx’s wanderings in Hamburg. Please be careful when putting the cache back.
The coordinates of the waypoints are accurate, apparently from time to time the GPS signal leads you 20 to 30 meters astray. That’s why we are leaving you with the pictures as hints.
