This cache is placed in memory of my late father-in-law, Raymond Barry "Tex" Ellis. He was a well known figure in Parkes, where he worked as a engine driver for NSW Railways, firstly in steam and then in the big diesels. He drove them all and was a regular driver and instructor on 3801, until late in his life. He loved driving the Indian Pacific and often drove it from Parkes to Ivanhoe or Broken Hill. He has a large extended family, many of them still resident in Parkes.
