La famosa roccia della Tartaruga è uno degli scogli più fotografati non solo in Gallura ma in tutta la Sardegna, frutto dell’erosione millenaria degli agenti atmosferici. Anche altre rocce caratterizzano la cala: sono dette ‘tafonate’, erose dai cristalli di quarzo del granito che, sbriciolati, ruotano vorticosamente per effetto del vento. Alle spalle di Cala Ghjlgolu il paesaggio è arricchito da un piccolo stagno, habitat di varie specie di uccelli.

Come arrivarci: Seguite le indicazioni per Cala Girgolu. Proseguite per circa 1 km, in parte su strada asfaltata e in parte su strada sterrata. Troverete l’ingresso della Spiaggia Cala Girgolu sulla vostra sinistra. Per poter visitare le calette dovete proseguire a piedi (non si può entrare in macchina) all’interno del villaggio Cala Girgolu percorrendo all’incirca 350 m (più o meno 4 minuti di camminata). Prendete il secondo accesso sulla sinistra. Arrivati alla spiaggia iniziate a costeggiare verso destra su un percorso di rocce e macchia mediterranea per circa 600/650 m in direzione nord/est (più o meno 15 min. di camminata). Prima di raggiungere la spiaggia della tartaruga potrete ammirare le tante calette nascoste, il panorama meraviglioso, le rocce scolpite dal vento e i ginepri che ombreggiano il percorso… Terminata questa passeggiata giungerete per prima tappa alla Spiaggia della Tartaruga. Ormai da anni la ammiriamo senza la “Testa”. Per ben due volte (agosto 1993 e febbraio 1997) è stata decapitata e imbrattata da atti vandalici. Proseguendo oltre la Tartaruga troverete la Spiaggia delle Vacche e poi i Sassi piatti dove si può ammirare una parte del parco Marino con Tavolara sullo sfondo.

Consigliamo, per chi volesse visitare queste meraviglie, di utilizzare della scarpe consone per una passeggiata sui sassi e sterrato.

The rock of La Tartaruga is one of the most photographed rocks not only in Gallura but in the whole of Sardinia and is the result of thousands of years of erosion caused by the weather. Other rocks also make the cove stand out: these are called ‘tafonate’ and are eroded by the quartz crystals from the granite that, when crumbled, rotate wildly as an effect of the wind. Behind Cala Ghjlgolu, the landscape is enriched by a small pond, which is the habitat of several bird species.

How to get there: Follow the directions for Cala Girgolu. Continue for 1 km approximately on a road partly paved and partly dirt. You will find the entrance for Cala Girgolu beach on your left. In order to visit the others little bays you have to continue on foot (you can’t enter the village with your vehicle) for about 350 m (4 min of walking). Take the second turn on the left and you will reach the beach. Now go to the right and follow a path made of rocks and Mediterranean scrub for 600/650 m (15 min of walking). During the walk you can enjoy the secretive bays, the beautiful landscape, the rocks carved by the wind and the junipers that shade the path. First you will reach the turtle beach. The Turtle is now without the head because in two occasions (august 1993 and february 1997) some “tourists” decapitated it. If you go further you will find another nice beach, the Spiaggia delle Vacche and the Sassi piatti beach where you can admire part of the marine protected area with a great view on Tavolara island.

We recommend to use proper shoes for a walk on a rocky ground.

Cette crique est connue pour ses eaux cristallines et ses rochers de granit (dites “tafonate”) aux formes magnifiques, résultats de milliers d’années d’érosion, comme la célèbre Tortue, malheureusement endommagée par des touristes à plusieurs reprises (1993 et 1997). Le paysage alentour compte un petit étang, juste derrière la plage, où différentes espèces d’oiseaux trouvent abri.

Comment y arriver:Suivez les indications pour Cala Girgolu. Continuez encore 1 km sur une route à demi goudronnée (le reste est un chemin de terre). Vous allez trouver l’entrée pour la plage de Cala Girgolu sur votre gauche. Pour visiter les autres petites criques vous devez continuer à pied (on ne peut pas entrer dans le village avec un véhicule) pour 350 m (4 min de marche). Prenez le deuxième chemin sur la gauche et vous rejoindrez une plage. Maintenant continuez sur la droite et suivez un petit chemin fait de roche et de végétation méditerranéenne pour 600/650 m (15 min de marche). Pendant cette petite promenade vous pourrez profiter de ces petites plages, de la belle vue sur la mer et sur les roches sculptées par le vent et des genévriers qui offrent de l’ombre (très appréciée d’été). Vous allez alors arriver à la plage de la Tortue qui est maintenant sans tête parce qu'en deux occasions (août 1993 et février 1997), des soit disant touristes l’ont vandalisée et décapitée. Si vous suivez encore un peu le chemin vous allez arriver à une autre belle petite plage, la Spiaggia delle Vacche et à la plage Sassi Piatti où vous pourrez admirer une partie de l’aire marine protégée et l'île de Tavolara.

On vous conseille de mettre des chaussures adaptées pour une marche sur les rochers.
