We headed out on a previously unexplored trail that had no caches, the plan was to rectify that. We were in the home stretch of our climb out of the West Fork of the San Gabriel River and it was time to drop another cache, a brief rest also sounded good.
This spot ended up being the best natural location for a hide. It is well protected, not naturally visible and right next to the trail. When I hid this, there were a ton of ants where I dropped my pack to place this cache. A couple feet away was clear though.
This cache is a hop, skip and a jump from a trailhead. If you take a longer route, plan accordingly with plenty of water if you are climbing out of the West Fork like we did. Watch for the natural critters as well
You should be looking for a 4x5x2 inch tin, and don't forget to bring a pen.
