The original container was stolen -- a replacement container was hidden on 2-29-2004. The new container is hidden about 50 yards from the original hiding spot. The clues and the final coordinates have been updated to reflect the new location.
This cache takes you on a journey my wife and I traveled often a few years ago when we lived nearby. You have the option of walking, biking, or even rollerblading (the last 200 yards or so is mowed grass -- not paved) to this cache site. No jeans required, but you'll want to use some insect repellant.
The coordinates listed for this cache are for the parking lot where you should start. At the NE corner of this lot you'll find a monument (N40 7.988 W88 16.747).
A = the number of pieces of vertical stone
At the south end of the parking lot you'll find a trail which leads you across the lane to another monument. Stop at the sign just across the lane to find the next clue (N40 7.937 W88 16.762).
B = the final digit in the year the monument was built (199_)
C = the number of lights on the walkway to the monument
Continue on to the monument to find the rest of the clues (N40 7.932 W88 16.789). All of the clues have to do with the years listed by the names below. The number you're looking for is the missing digit below.
D = Nancy Thies 19_2
E = Jean L. Driscoll 19_6
F = Karen Brems Kurreck 200_
G = Robert E. Richards 19_8
If you've got them all correct, A+B+C+D+E+F+G = 32.
The coordinates of the cache are N40 D.AEG W88 BD.FGC.
From here you have the option of taking the steps down the west side of the monument across the bridge and on to the cache, or you can get back in your car and drive to a second parking lot. If you have time it's a nice walk, but you will be required to cross a 4-lane road (Bradley Ave.) without a crosswalk, which can be tough depending on the time of day, etc. The 2nd parking lot is at N40 7.645 W88 16.987.
