The Sussex 2020 Team help you to discover this wonderful nature reserve in Royal Deeside with its lochs, streams, forests and heather moorland whilst taking part in the traditional post-Mega CITO.
The reserve is managed by Scottish Natural Heritage and includes a wide range of habitats including dry heath, raised bog, woodland, and two lochs which are of international importance for wintering wildfowl.
A 9th Century Pictish stone, known as the Loch Kinnord Cross Slab and featured on our set of Castle/Standing Stone Coins, stands on the north shore of the loch and Burn O'Vat a spectacular naturally sculpted area that features an Earth Cache with one of the highest number of favourites in the region is also on site.
The event has been arranged in conjunction with the Scottish Natural Heritage's Ranger's Office at Burn O'Vat, with the kind permission of the Head Ranger. We will undertake a litter pick to help clear the various paths in the area, so you will be designated an area to work in.
The Rangers office will supply litter pickers and bags and we'd ask that people work in teams one with a picker and one with a bag. If you need to wear gloves please bring your own so that the sizing is right for you.
