Geocache Description:

The Fishtrap cache is located 30 miles west of Spokane. Take I-90 to Fishtrap exit and head south on Old Sprague Highway 2.3 miles to Fishtrap Road. Turn left and drive .6 miles to parking area on right. Park here, go through the gate and you're on your way! This is on land managed by the Bureau of Land Management. Boots are advised (cheat grass, brush in places). Have fun!

This is a two part cache. You will find the coordinates to the second cache (ammo box) in the first cache (8" blue plastic cylinder). The Fishtrap area is an exceptional geologic paradise, as many of the features formed by the Pleistocene catastrophic floods are visible here. One of the most dominant geologic features near the geocache site are mima mounds, circular mounds of silt that are around 20 feet in diameter and several feet tall. They occur only where a thin layer of silt overlays a firm substratum of basalt or flood gravels. In some areas you will notice stone circles or rings at the base of these mounds. Geologists have long argued over the origin of these mounds. Theories of their formation range from wind, water, permafrost, seimic activity and over-active gophers. What's your theory? Leave your answer in the logbook! PS There's a dispo camera in the cache;(take a picture of yourself and leave behind)
