From 1923 to 1963, Ipswich was served by a trolleybus network. Trolleybuses are a sort of tram / bus hybrid, taking their power from overhead electricity lines but running on roads without a need for tracks. (The eagle-eyed amongst you may have noticed that this is not a SideTracked cache for this reason!) In Ipswich, there were 14 routes with up to 85 trolleybuses. The Priory Heath trolleybus depot was situated here at Cobham Road.
