Johnson Hall was the 1763 Georgian-style estate of Irish immigrant Sir William Johnson, Superintendent of Indian Affairs. It was here that several councils between the British and many nations of Native Americans – notably the Iroquois – would take place before Johnson’s death in 1774. From this cache, you can look easterly to the front of the great Hall, much as a council representative coming from the western frontier might.
