So last year, I am at my workplace and I get an email notification of a "Found it" log entry at one of my new fave hides. Clickety-click; have a look. What a lovely couple in the cool pic in the log. And avid geocachers. From the Netherlands, nonetheless. So a quick geocaching message to say hi, and then a few messages back and forth, and the next thing you know we have a meet-and-greet arranged with local geocachers as well. While Newfoundlanders are known for welcoming "Come from Aways", we realize our new found friends are more family than visitors, with a NL and NL family connection. As we've continued to stay in touch, we have learned a few things along the way:
One must be sing along to Van Morrison and The Police, at full volume (click on each pic for a track):
Dutch pancakes are a thing. An amazing thing.
Darts just may be another common bond, as well,
And the crazier the sense of humour, the better it fits!
So come one, come all to a local coffee spot to enjoy a cup of java if you wish at a reasonable hour of 10:30AM for those of us who would like an extra wink in bed, while we also beat the lunch time crowd to a table. And, who knows - maybe an impromptu caching crew might get formed for the afternoon.
