Come out for a camp and country drive, or just to socialise. We will be having a meet and greet event at base camp, with the option to go out for a navigation run. If you don't feel inclined to go out for the run then stay back and socialise or just listen to the peaceful sounds of the country. This event is a has a strong caching theme, the primary focus is on the social element, with the added excitement of the usual Safari challenge tasks, plus a whole bunch of existing geocaches that can be done locally or along the navigation route.
As ever, this is not a speed event. We are going to be holding the event at the Crows Nest Caravan park for convenience but is open to day guests too. We encourage a camp over to make the most the weekend, but there is no obligation to. We (your hosts) will be camped Friday and Saturday nights, so feel free to join us around the campfire. (more information about the site below for reference).
If you are participating in the navigation run, it will be a long drive on rural country roads. You will require the use of a vehicle capable of travelling such roads, i.e. high clearance, and willing to get your car dusty. You do not require 4x4 to participate in this event.
The run itself will be a staggered start from 08:00 to allow maximum time to complete the route. There are numerous questions to be answered along the way, interesting facts and history to be learned whilst you meander through the scenery and loads of geocaches to pick up on the way.
Expect to be out for most of the day, the course will be over 200km.
If you prefer to just come out and sit in the sun, then that's ok too.

The Campsite is a commercial caravan park. I have no association with this site, just the most convenient and suitable place to lay our heads down for the night for those who wish to. There are numerous accomodation types available to attempt to cater for as many different tastes as possible, please refer to the Crows Nest Caravan park for more details. I would reccomend booking as early as possible that way they will locate everybody as close to one spot as is available. Ensure you mention Rural Safari, to get camped out near to the group.
