Today, my son Kelly (Kelster3) is turning 18. He said he would like to go on a hike to Annapolis Rock. I asked him if he would like for it to be a caching event. His eyes got wide, he smiled and said, "I could do that!" So here we are.
I have been caching for over 10 years, but have never hosted an event. Hopefully, this will work out, weather-wise. In the case of rain, we will not do the hike, so keep an eye on the event page.
Let's start assembling at the parking lot around 8:45 am on Saturday, June 15. We can visit, chat, and celebrate Kelly's birthday unitl about 9:15 or so. At that time, those who wish may join us as we start heading north on the Appalachian Trail. I am estimating a round-trip of close to 7 miles. Of course, total time is uncertain (depends on how many people decide to join us, and how fast everyone wants to go, of course). The hike is not mandatory, but encouraged, as the views from the top are beautiful. If joining us on the hike, I recommend wearing comfortable clothes and shoes, and packing a lunch to eat at the top. Also...hikers should always remember to bring plenty of water. Those who wish to may also do some caching before, during, after, or instead of the hike.
I will update the cache page as necessary, or as I think of other things to communicate. Hope to see a lot of you there!
