Geocache Description:

Welcome to Kalispell - Flathead county seat.

In 1891 James J. Hill was the chief executive officer of the Great Northern Railway.
Mr. Hill needed a town in which to locate a railroad division point, and he needed someone with the capital and disposition to open up the growing country.
Hill found his man in Charles E. Conrad of Fort Benton Montana.
In 1891 Mr. Conrad formed the Kalispell Townsite Company with three other men.
This was the start of the city of Kalispell.
Kalispell is considered the gateway to Glacier National Park.
