Updated 10/16/21: There has been some confusion recently when the original pill bottle cache placed in 2019 suddenly made a reappearance, albeit about 30 feet away. We have now removed that original cache from the location. Also checked on the active cache (mini bison tube) and it is alive and well at the posted coordinates. Thanks to Glamping Cousins for clueing me into what was going on.
Updated 12/30/19: We have replaced this with a small tube cache in the same location. When we originally placed this we wanted to remain true to the original Merrick Remembers, but not hard to figure out it went missing for a reason. We could not find the pill bottle we had placed amongst the leaves and such; if anyone comes across that by chance, please take a picture of the paper log and post it here so we have it for posterity? But the new cache should hold up much better.
This small park contains multiple memorials for war veterans, firefighters and 9-11 victims. It is also the ending point of the annual Merrick Memorial Day parade in which my Cub Scout pack participates down Merrick Ave.
This cache replaces the original Merrick Remembers, which was the very first cache we found together and has special meaning to us.
