Located at a historical site with permission of the site owners. I used to ride my bike down here as a kid and worked here a few summers giving tours as well. This cache is located along Trout River in a large plastic ammo can with lots of room for SWAG. When first placed the cache contained about 35 rubber ducks. There is a walking path that will take you down to the river. It starts across the road from the red house. You continue down a grassy path until there is an opening that brings you in the woods and down near the river and cache. This is a beautiful area where you can take some pictures. Parking is avaible in the parking lot at the top of the hill on the same side of the road as the red house. Please return cache to where and how you found it. Please no night caching and please be respectful of the property and other guests visiting the historical site.
This historical site is the childhood home of Almanzo Wilder. There is a book written about his childhood called "Farmer Boy" that was written by his wife, Laura Ingalls Wilder. Laura has written a series of "Little House" books. Later, they were made into a TV series named "Little House on The Prairie". These books are very easy read for kids and also a fun quick read for adults. The local schools in surrouding towns read the book 'Farmer Boy' in the 4th grade and then come here on a feild trip come early June.If you have read the book "Farmer Boy" then you know that Almanzo used to come to this river to fish on rainy days and to collect ice in the winter for the icehouse.
