Crookwell RT - McAlister Traditional Cache

This cache has been archived.

GLISS!: The rail track is in the culvert, which has become very very overgrown - quite different from when I originally placed the cache. It's now a brown snake risk, so I'm archiving this one.

Geocache Description:

The Crookwell Rail line is a disused NSW branch line.  The line was opened in 1902 and was mainly used for transporting of agricultural produce and freight.  The last passengers travelled in 1974 with all traffic ceasing in 1985.

Much the line has been removed or tarred over and most of it is on private land.  There have been multiple submissions to council proposing to reopen the line for tourism as a rail trail.

The stops along the line were:
Crookwell
McAlister
Roslyn
Woodhouselee
The Forest
Norwood
Kenmore
Argyle
Goulburn

*Watch out for some old pieces of barbed wire near the cache site.*
