Geocache Description:

19 October 2019, 08:00 - 16:00

Hosted by Friends of Lake Wapello!

They provide us with the insurance that we need to held an event here!

There will be new caches at Lake Wapello.  We will load your GPS'r with all the new caches.  You will need to bring your cables just in case we do not have one.

Night caches that are not permanent (just for fun) will be posted at Cabin 13 after dinner.

There will be a Gadget Cache Competition

Gadget caches are to be set up by 9 am Saturday morning at the main lodge.  Caches need to be removed between 2 and 4 pm.

Entries will be assigned a number.  Each registered geocaching name can cast one vote for their favorite gadget cache between 9 am and 2 pm.  A traveling trophy will be presented to the winner at 3:30 pm when we get back together for the prize drawing and group pictures at the lodge.  The trophy is to be returned to the SEIowa team at the start of the following years event.

The winner of each year's competition is encouraged to host the following year's competition and may not compete in that year's competition.  Durango Dale will be hosting the 2019 competition.  Let him know if you have questions or if you require power at dhaifley@gmail.com

Everyone is invited to participate in the gadget cache competition.  No entry is too big or too small or too complex.  Non-participants can enjoy the caches and sign the logs.

About gadget caches:  A gadget cache is a type of field puzzle.  It may involve mechanical or electrical assemblies or puzzles that require some activity to gain access to the log.  When designing a gadget cache, keep safety (sharp edges, pinch points, voltages, etc.) in mind and remember children will be using them.

There is no internet at the lodge and very spotty cell service around Lake Wapello.  So GPS is highly recommended.

Friday and Saturday night at cabin 13 there is always a big fire going with cachers relaxing and sharing stories.  The fire will be started after dinner both nights and usually someone is still there till about 11 pm.   You will want to bring a folding chair and snacks (for yourself or to share and feel free to use the fire to heat or cook your snack) and anything you want to drink and enjoy a fun and relaxing time with fellow cachers.

You can come for the day or it is better to stay for the whole weekend.  Everyone is welcome!

When you log your will attend please put down how many people that will be in your group so we can buy enough food for the weekend.

Lake Wapello has 13 cabins and electric and non electric sites for camping, tent and RV's, modern shower, restroom facilities, as well as trailer dump station.
