Geocache Description:

I've been hiking and biking the trails of Pocahontas State Park for years.   Now it's time to spend some quality time exploring the waters of Swift Creek Lake.  You must use a non-gas powered watercraft to access this cache, whether your own or one rented from the park for a very reasonable fee.  Keep in mind that what goes downstream must come back upstream.  Lots of turtles in these waters, so keep your toes up.

Matoaka Island is a wonderful little island.   Did you know that Matoaka is the name Pocahontas was born with?  I don't know if this island was ever called Matoaka Island until this geocache, but I like it and will continue to call it as such.   Maybe you will also.  Enjoy your trip to Matoaka Island.

This cache is located within Pocahontas State Park and placed with permission of Park Management. Parking fees apply, day searching only, please CITO and Leave No Trace.
