Geocache Description:

Another cache hidden to help folks qualify for a "nearby" challenge that has to do with wine names: GC5P2FP.

Blaufränkisch is an Austrian/Central European varietal that has a deep purple-red color, is high in tannin, and often has a spicy character. It is called Lemberger in Germany, and this name came to North America, where it is grown in Pennsylvania and up-state New York. Other states that grow large amounts of it are Idaho, Michigan, Montana and Washington, but it also grows in Colorado and New Mexico, and several other states. In California, it is still fairly uncommon, but several vineyards in the Napa and Sonoma area grow it, and a few Central Coast vineyards have begun to grow it and produce Blaufränkisch wine, or use it in blends. At least two wineries in the Los Olivos and Foxen Canyon areas grow it and produce wine using this grape. Geocaching rules prevent us from mentioning the names, but if you enjoy wine, this gives you something to look for in your tasting journey.

You are looking for a camoed pill bottle. It is about five feet off the ground, in an old oak tree. Parking is better on the west side of the road, but the cache is on the east side. Please extract it carefully, as the tree has suffered damage. It is still alive, but the bark tends to be a little fragile. No pencil, so please bring your own writing implement.

Cheers!
