St. Alexis Church was first built from wood (alongside the current church) and was dedicated to the "Assumption of the Virgin". The year of this first construction is unknown. It resisted the times until 1799, when it was built of brick by Jupan Arnautu and his wife, Maria, hence the name of the present church.
Severely affected by earthquakes, it was rebuilt in 1897 on July 29, in the days of Primat Mitropolitan of Romania Iosif Gheorghian, of M.S. Carol I and Queen Elizabeth, at the expense of parishioners.
The church has a cross-shaped plan with three apses and two octagonal spiers. The nave is supported on the inside with pendants. The church has the closed porch, and there are still traces of graves in the yard.
The church's stained-glass windows, nine in number, representing the figure of saints and biblical scenes, give a filtered light, thus creating an atmosphere appropriate to inner prayer and tranquility. The painting was re-painted by the painter Ioanid. From the parish documents it appears that the church "functioned" from 1809 on November 10th. This is also confirmed by an old pommel, which was found on a large stone, which was buried in the church, under the floor, on the right, above a hole in which bones were kept. This stone was unveiled in 1925 on the occasion of repairs to the church. She settled back and her place is a black border.
The age of this church is attested by two other documents:
A stone-carved stone-bearer wearing October 10, 1812, which is found in the wall of the altar at Proscomidiar
A pomelum written also in Cyrillic letters as the other, dated August 15, 1845, which is on the Proscomid table
In spite of the passage of time and the difficulties encountered, the Church of St. Alexis persists and gathers those who seek and love God and His saints.

Biserica Sfântul Alexie a fost construită la început din lemn ( alături de actuala biserică) şi avea hramul “Adormirea Maicii Domnului”. Anul acestei prime construcţii este necunoscut. Aceasta a rezistat vremurilor până în anul 1799, când a fost construită din cărămidă de către Jupân Arnăutu şi soţia sa, Maria, de unde şi numele bisericii actuale.
Afectată grav de cutremure, se reclădeşte în anul 1897 la 29 iulie, în zilele Mitrpolitului Primat al României Iosif Gheorghian, ale M.S. Carol I şi ale reginei Elisabeta, cu cheltuiala enoriaşilor.
Biserica are planul în formă de cruce, cu trei abside şi cu două turle octogonale. Cea de pe naos este sprijinită la interior cu pandantivi. Biserica are pridvorul închis, iar în curte încăse mai găsesc urme de morminte.
Vitraliile bisericii, nouă la număr, reprezentând figure de sfinţi şi scene biblice, dau o lumină filtrată, realizându- se astfel în interior o atmosferă adecvată rugăciunii şi liniştirii lăuntrice. Pictura a foat realiyată de pictorul Ioanid. Din documentele parohiei reiese că biserica ” funcţiona” încă din anul 1809, ziua de 10 noiembrie. Acest lucru este atestat şi de un pomelnic vechi, care a fost găsit scris pe o piatră mare, care a fost îngropată în biserică, sub pardoseală, în partea dreaptă, deasupra unei gropi în care s-au păstrat oseminte. Această piatră a fost scoasă la iveală în anul 1925 cu ocazia reparaţiilorce s-au făcut bisericii. S-a aşezat la loc şi locul ei este s-a însemnat cu un chenar negru.
Vechimea acestei biserici este atestată de încă două documente:
Un pomelnic săpat în piatră purtând data de 10 octombrie 1812, care se găseşte în peretele din altar, la Proscomidiar
Un pomelnic scris tot cu litere chirilice ca şi celălalt, datat 15 august 1845, care se găseşte pe masa Proscomidală
În ciuda trecerii timpului şi a dificultăţilor întâmpinate, Biserica Sfantul Alexie dăinuie şi adună pe cei ce Îl caută si Îl iubesc pe Dumnezeu si pe sfintii Săi.
