La croix celtique du Parc-de-l'Artillerie
La croix celtique du Parc-de-l'Artillerie est un cadeau du peuple irlandais en appréciation aux familles québécoises qui ont accueilli et adopté les orphelins des immigrants irlandais victimes notamment de la grande famine de 1847.
La croix est faite de calcaire bleu provenant des carrières Feelystone à Kilkenny en Irlande. Examinez attentivement les quatre côtés de la croix. Vous y observerez des éléments sacrés et profanes, mythologiques et bibliques, historiques et légendaires, thèmes s'inspirant des grandes croix d'Irlande.

The Celtic Cross at the Artillery Park
The Celtic Cross of the Artillery Park is a gift from the people of Ireland in appreciation to Québec families who have welcomed and adopted the orphans of Irish immigrants victims of the great famine of 1847.
The Cross is made of blue limestone from the Feelystone quarries in Kilkenny, Ireland. Examine carefully the four sides of the Cross. You will observe elements sacred and profane, mythological and scriptural, historical and legendary, themes taken from High Crosses of Ireland.

In the summer of 2019, we enjoyed the thematic tour entitled "Irish Heritage". It reveals the tragic events experienced by Irish immigrants to Grosse Île, mainly during the 1847 typhus epidemic.
