Radvilų Tėvonija
Įtakingų LDK didikų Radvilų tėvonija Dubingiai ūkiniu ir religiniu požiūriu daugiau kaip 350 metų išliko funkcionalia Radvilų giminės valda, svarbia ir LDK kontekste. Radvilos – lietuvių kilmės didikų giminė, iškilusi XVI a. pradžioje ir vyravusi Lietuvos Didžiosios Kunigaikštystės politiniame ir kultūriniame gyvenime iki XVII amžiaus antrosios pusės, nepraradusi savo vaidmens ir XVIII amžiuje. Nė viena didikų giminė nei Lietuvoje, nei Lenkijoje nėra davusi valstybei tiek žymių ir garsių valstybininkų – ministrų, senatorių, karvedžių ir kitų aukštų valstybės pareigūnų. Radvilų giminė garsi karaliene Barbora, kardinolu Jurgiu, pasižymėjusiais karvedžiais, politikais, diplomatais, ministrais. Radvilos vieninteliai titulavosi Šventosios Romos imperijos kunigaikščiais, o kai kurie pasirašydavo: kunigaikščiai iš Dievo malonės (Dei Grate). Radvilos buvo turtingiausia ano meto didikų giminė, dvarus skaičiavusi tūkstančiais, išlaikiusi atskirą kariuomenę, pajėgesnę kartais už viso krašto.
Radvilos, nors ir valdydami daugybę miestų ir rezidencijų, būtent Dubingius pasirinko kaip vieną iš laidojimo panteonų. Dubingiuose, buvusios evangelikų reformatų bažnyčios vietoje, 2004–2007 m. antropologai, istorikai, menotyrininkai ir archeologai bendromis pastangomis identifikavo aštuonių Radvilų giminės atstovų palaikus. 2009 metais jų palaikai buvo iškilmingai perlaidoti Dubingių piliavietėje. „Keleivi, sustok trumpam ir susimąstyk, kokia didybė ilsisi šioje vietoje. Tai Radvilos“, – primena antkapinėje plokštėje iškalti žodžiai.
Homeland of Radvila
For over 350 years Dubingiai, the homeland of influential Grand Duchy of Lithuania nobles Radvila, remained economically and religiously functional, also important in the context of the GDL. The Radvila family is one of the most influential families in the history of Lithuania. It exerted an undoubtedly strong influence on the political and cultural development of the Lithuanian State.
The Radvila family is famous for Queen Barbora, Cardinal George, distinguished leaders, politicians, diplomats, and ministers. Radvila were the only ones to be named the princes of the Holy Roman Empire and some to sign: princes of God's grace (Dei Grate). Radvila was the richest tribe of noblemen of the time, counting the estates by the thousands, maintaining a separate army, sometimes more powerful than the army of whole country.
The Radvila family were the governors of many towns and residencies. Nonetheless, they chose Dubingiai as the place for their burial site. In the period from 2004 through to 2007, as a result of joint efforts of anthropologists, historians, art critics and archaeologists, the remains of eight people found back in 2004 were identified to be the remains of the Radvila family representatives. On 5 September 2009, the solemn reburial ceremony of the remains was held as part of the programme for the commemoration of the millennium of Lithuania's name. The remains of the Radvila family representatives were reburied in the crypt, under the apse of the Renaissance-style evangelical reformed church in Dubingiai.
