Debreceni Református Kollégium / Debrecen Reformed College
HU: 1538 óta áll a mostani helyén a Református Kollégium. Ez idő alatt arany betűkkel írta be nevét a magyar és az egyetemes művelődés történetébe. Falai között kezdettől fogva a legmagasabb foktól a legalacsonyabbig folyt az oktató és a nevelő munka.
Diákjai a köznép fiaiból – a parasztok, kézművesek, polgárok, kisnemesek soraiból kerültek ki, akik tanulmányaik végeztével, vagy sokszor évekig tartó külföldi tanulmányútjuk után a nép közé visszatérve, a falvakban és mezővárosokban kamatoztatták szellemi kincseiket.
Munkájuk nyomán falusi iskolák százai létesültek. Magyar nyomdák keltek életre, templomokkal népesült be a magyar alföld, és magyar nyelven szólalt meg Isten Igéje.
A Kollégium könyvtárába szüntelenül gyűjtögették a mindenkori haladó tudomány legértékesebb alkotásait, s ezzel a művelt világ legjelentősebb tudományos gyűjteményei sorába emelték, de tankönyvekkel, tanszerekkel, térképekkel látták el a falusi iskolákat is. Ezek bizonyságait a Kollégium múzeumai őrzik.
A Kollégiumot minden időben a magyar nép páratlan áldozatkészsége tartotta fenn. Ezért szolgálhatta az egyetemes emberi művelődést és haladást.
A Kollégium falai között – a Kollégium imatermében, az Oratóriumban – tartotta a magyar országgyűlés képviselőháza üléseit 1849. január 9-étől 1849. május 31-éig. Amikor másodszor is az ország fővárosa lett Debrecen, itt – szintén az Oratórium falai közt – alakult meg 1944. december 21-én az ideiglenes nemzetgyűlés.
A Kollégium évszázados küldetése ma is érvényes.

His students came from the sons of the common people - peasants, craftsmen, citizens, and nobility who, after their studies or after many years of study abroad, returned to the people in the villages and towns.
As a result of their work, hundreds of village schools were established. Hungarian printing houses came to life, the Hungarian Plain was populated with churches, and the word of God was spoken in Hungarian.
The College's library consistently collected the most valuable works of the most advanced science of all time, bringing them to the most important scientific collections of the educated world, but also supplying textbooks, school supplies, and maps to the village schools. Their testimonies are preserved in the museums of the College.
The College was maintained at all times by the unmatched sacrifice of the Hungarian people. That is why it served universal human education and advancement.
Between 9 January 1849 and 31 May 1849, the Chamber of Deputies of the Hungarian Parliament held its sessions in the Prayer Room of the College, the Oratory. When Debrecen became the capital of the country for the second time, the Provisional National Assembly was formed here on December 21, 1944, also within the walls of the Oratory.
The College's centuries-old mission is still valid today.
