Geocache Description:

[EN] The "Museum of the Royal Atarazanas (MAR)" exposes interesting finds of goods found from the Dominican seabed. The MAR is a modern museum in which a unique collection is exposed in the world derived from historical shipwrecks that occurred in the waters of the Dominican coast between the 15th and 19th centuries. Inside, it houses a selection of 1,200 assets of the Underwater Cultural Heritage of the Dominican Republic that tell the story of the extraordinary encounter between two worlds, using shipwrecks as a common thread, as is the case of the first of these, the Nao Santa María in the that Christopher Columbus traveled at the end of the fifteenth century, to warships of 74 sunken cannons on the Dominican coast during the military conflicts of the nineteenth century. Housed in the former building of the Royal Atarazanas - enclave in the Americas of the hiring house, shipyard, naval warehouse and merchandise traffic control - this museum tells the greatness and tragedies of navigation in the Caribbean region. To log this geocache you just to take a picture of yourself in front of the Museum and include along with your log.
