Geocache Description:

Loen Via Ferrata
Via Ferrata Loen is a phenomenal climb from the fjord to the mountain top!

Via Ferrata Loen starts at the Loen Active shop and takes you up to Mt. Hoven (1011 m.). Fantastic views of beautiful mountains, glaciers and fjord. Duration 5 to 6 hours depending on your level of skill and the amount of people in front of you.

Along the way you'll get to cross the Gjølmunne suspension bridge, the longest via ferrata bridge in Europe,120 m long.

What do you need?
There are som essential equipment needed for this climb. First of all a climbing harness, helmet, Via Ferrata set, boots with great grip and gloves. You should also bring some food, a big bottle with water or soft drinks and clothes according to the weather conditions of your trip.

What is a Via Ferrata?
The name Via Ferrata comes from Italy, where they built an “iron road” in the mountains during the first world war. The essence of a modern via ferrata is a steel cable which runs along the route and is periodically (every 3 to 10 meters (9.8 to 33 ft)) fixed to the rock. Using a via ferrata kit the climber can secure themselves to the cable, limiting any fall.
