Skozi stoletja se je v Brdih prepletala danes vidna kulturna dediščina: od kultivirane pokrajine, značilne arhitekture vasi in gradov, pa do številnih etnoloških zanimivosti Bricev, šeg in navad ter značilnega govora. Pečat preteklosti je pustil svoje sledove.
Brda so večinoma obdelana z vinogradi in sadovnjaki, raziskovalec narave pa bo odkril mnogo zanimivega o geoloških, klimatskih, botaničnih in drugih posebnosti te neokrjene narave.
Povsod po briških gričih so posejane vasice, nekatere strjene kot ptičja gnezda, druge razpotegnjene po slemenih, vse pa obdane z zelenjem vinogradov in sadovnjakov, med katerimi se vijejo ceste, poti in steze.

Cultural heritage in Brda has intertwined over the centuries: from cultivated landscapes, typical architectures of villages and castles to numerous ethnological attractions, customs, habits and a distinctive dialect. The stamp of the past has undoubtedly left its traces.
Brda is mostly cultivated with vineyards and orchards. A nature explorer will discover many interesting things about geological, climatic and botanical features in this unspoiled nature.
The hilly Brda landscape is speckled with villages, some clustered like birds’ nests, some elongated and dispersed, with houses spread along the ridges, but all of them surrounded by the greenery of vineyards and orchards with roads, track and paths winding among them.

Nel corso dei secoli, il patrimonio culturale di Brda si è intrecciato nella maniera in cui risulta visibile oggi: dal paesaggio coltivato, dall'architettura tipica dei villaggi e dei castelli, fino a una serie di curiosità di tipo etnologico che riguardano gli abitanti di Brda, i Brici, ai costumi e alle tradizioni e al inconfondibile linguaggio parlato. Il sigillo del passato ha decisamente lasciato le sue tracce.
Sulle colline di Brda sono in gran parte presenti vigneti e frutteti, e un buon esploratore della natura potrà scoprire molte cose interessanti sulle particolarità geologiche, climatiche, botaniche e altre caratteristiche di questa natura incontaminata.
Le colline di Brda sono cosparse ovunque di villaggi, alcuni compatti come nidi di uccelli, altri distesi lungo gli speroni, ma comunque tutti circondati dal verde, da vigneti e frutteti in mezzo ai quali serpeggiano le strade e i sentieri.

Jahrhunderte lang hat sich durch die Hügellandschaft Brda das heute sichtbare Kulturerbe durchflochten: von Kulturlandschaft, der landeseigenen Architektur der Dörfer und Schlösser, bis zu den zahlreichen ethnologischen Interessantheiten von "Brici", den Einwohnern von Brda, ihrer Bräuche und Gewohnheiten, sowie der charakteristischen Redeweise.Der Siegel der Vergangenheit hat seine Spuren gelassen.
Die Hügellandschaft Brda ist mit Weinbergen und Obstgärten bebaut und ein Naturforscher wird eine Menge Interessantes über geologische, klimatische, botanische und andere Besonderheiten dieser unversehrten Natur entdecken.
Die ganze Hügellandschaft von Brda ist mit kleinen Dorfern besät, einige sind wie Vogelnester, die anderen strecken sich über Hügelrücken, alle sind aber umgeben von dem Grünen der Weinberge und Obstgärten, unter denen sich Straßen, Wege und Pfade schlängeln.

Gonjače, razgledni stolp
Na izletu po Brdih naletimo tudi na vrsto spomenikov in spominskih plošč. Med njimi najbolj izstopa spomenik v Gonjačah, ki je posvečen 315 žrtvam druge svetovne vojne na desnem bregu Soče. Postavljen je na Mejniku, hribu nad vasjo Gonjače. Je delo akademskega slikarja in kiparja Janeza Boljke. Verze, ki so vtisnjeni na bronasti plošči, je zapisal pisatelj France Bevk. “Sinovom Brd in Benečije, čuvarjem zvestim naše govorice,...”
Ob spomeniku žrtvam stoji 23 m visok razgledni stolp s 144 stopnicami, ki je bil zgrajen leta 1961. Ob lepem vremenu se vam z njega odpre veličasten razgled na vse štiri strani neba: Brda, Julijske in Karnijske Alpe, Dolomite, Furlanijo, Tržaški zaliv, Kras, Vipavsko dolino in Trnovski gozd. Načrte za postavitev stolpa je pripravil arhitekt Marko Šlajmer.
View tower in Gonjače
On your trip around the Brda region you will encounter a series of monuments and memorial plaques. The most widely known is the bronze monument in Gonjače which is dedicated to the 315 citizens of Brda who gave their lives in WWII. The monument is placed on Mejnik, the hill near the village. It is the work of painter and sculptor Janez Boljka. The lines engraved on the bronze plaque – “To the sons of Brda and Benečija, the faithful guardians of our language.”- were written by the writer France Bevk. Next to it is a 23 m high lookout tower with 144 stairs, which was designed by the architect Marko Šlajmer.
The tower was built in 1961 and it represents the central point of Brda. When the sky is clear, you can enjoy the breathtaking view of all four points of the compass: the Julian and Carnian Alps, as well as the Dolomites to the North, the Friulian plain to the West, the Trieste Gulf and the Karst to the South, and the Trnovo forest and the Vipava Valley to the east.
Torre panoramica Gonjače
Durante la nostra escursione attraverso il Brda ci imbattiamo anche in diversi monumenti e lastre commemorative, tra i quali spicca il monumento a Gonjače (Gugnazze) eretto sul colle Mejnik, che sorge sopra il paesino, in memoria alle 315 vittime della Seconda guerra mondiale della destra dell'Isonzo. Adiacente al monumento si erge la torre panoramica, alta 23 metri con 144 gradini e costruita nel 1961. Da lassù, quando fa bel tempo, si gode di una meravigliosavista panoramica a 360 gradi; il Collio, la Alpi Giulie e le Alpi Carniche, le Dolomiti, la Pianura Friulana , il Golfo di Trieste, il Carso, la valle del Vipacco e la Selva di Tarnova.
Il monumento è l'opera del pittore e scultore accademico Janez Boljka, mentre i disegni per la costruzione della torre sono stati fatti dall'architetto Marko Šlajmer. I versi sul bassorilievo di bronzo invece appartengono allo scrittoreFrance Bevk: “Sinovom Brd in Benečije, čuvarjem zvestim naše govorice…” (Ai figli del Collio e della Slavia Veneta, ai custodi fedeli della nostra lingua…)
Aussichtsturm Gonjače
Auf dem Ausflug durch das Gebiet von Brda stößt man auf eine Reihe von Denkmälern und Gedenktafeln. Unter ihnen tritt das Denkmal in Gonjače zu Ehren der 315 Opfer des Zweiten Weltkrieges auf dem rechten Ufer des Flusses Soča hervor. Errichtet wurde es auf dem Mejnik, einem Hügel über dem Dorf Gonjače.
Der 23 Meter hohe Aussichtsturm auf den 144 Treppen führen, wurde 1961 errichtet und zählt zu den bedeutendsten Sehenswürdigkeiten von Brda. Bei schönem Wetter öffnet sich ein wundervoller Blick in alle vier Himmelsrichtungen aus. Brda, die Julischen und die Karnischen Alpen, die Dolomiten, Friaul, der Golf von Triest, der Kras (Karst), das Vipavatal und der Hoch- und Schwarzwald "Trnovski gozd" breiten sich vor uns aus.
