The Gutiérrez Passage is a covered commercial gallery located between the streets Fray Luis de León and Castelar. This type of galleries arose in Paris as a result of the industrial revolution of the nineteenth century. They were conceived as passages that served as communication between busy streets and destined to expand space for commerce. In Spain, the Gutiérrez Passage, together with the Pasaje de Lodares de Albacete and the Pasaje del Ciclón de Zaragoza, are the only 3 remaining examples of this type of galleries..
It was inaugurated in 1886 and it is an example of Beaux-Artian architecture in which the classical orders are combined with the new technologies of the time, such as the iron roof with glass tiles and the gas lighting seen in the arms of the light balloons, which are still the originals, obviously adapted to the new times. The purpose of the passage was to create an elegant shopping area for the high and middle bourgeoisie of Valladolid at the time where we could offer selected products from all over Europe.
The gallery is divided into two sections, joined by a central square, where a statue of Mercury, god of commerce, rests under a beautiful glass dome. In the corners you can see 4 sculptures that represent the four seasons. The ceilings are adorned with paintings that represent mythological themes and plant motifs..
After years of abandonment, the passage was restored and cataloged as an Asset of Cultural Interest at the end of 1998. It is one of the most special corners of the city, enjoy it..

If you are shy and do not want to show your face or body (complete or incomplete) you have to show your nickname written in your hand or on paper, your avatar on the screen of another mobile, or even a photo where your GPS looks.
