[RO] Câmpia Libertăţii este situată în lunca Târnavei Mari, în spatele catedralei şi a şcolilor, aici având loc Marea Adunare Naţională din mai 1848. Obiectivul a primit acest nume după ce 40.000 de persoane au strigat, aici, ”Noi vrem să ne unim cu ţara!”. Istoria spune că tot aici, în 1911, s-au ţinut serbările semicentenarului ASTREI la care au luat parte oameni de ştiinţă şi cultură, în timp ce Aurel Vlaicu zbura cu propriul avion deasupra mulţimii. Pe această câmpie a aterizat şi avionul care aducea vestea cea mare a reintrării României în război, pentru eliberarea Transilvaniei. În 1973, cu ocazia împlinirii a 125 de ani de la Revoluţia din 1848, aici au fost dezvelite 24 de busturi ale unor personalităţi ale istoriei şi culturii româneşti. În prezent sunt 26 de statui. În 1977, pe Câmpia Libertăţii a fost ridicat Ansamblul monumental ”Gloria”, un monument de piatră, înalt de 18 metri, pe care este scris ”La 15 mai 1848, pe Câmpia Libertăţii, reprezentanţii poporului român au rostit răspicat dorinţa arzătoare a realizării unităţii naţionale a statului naţional român, visul de aur al unor veacuri de suferinţă şi luptă prin istoricele cuvinte: ”.Monumentul mai este compus din statuile a trei tinere fete, turnate din bronz, care reprezintă cele trei mari provincii istorice româneşti: Moldova, Muntenia şi Ardealul.
