Geocache Description:

In the story, a boy befriended a giant taking refuge in the forest. While playing, the giant climbed the tallest tree with the boy atop his head. As they emerged above the green canopy, the boy was awed by the beautiful sea of treetops that lay before them.

This image came to mind the day I set eyes on the Dave Evans Bicentennial Tree and I knew I had to climb it.

Your task is the same. The 165 metal rods hammered into the tree is your ladder all the way up this 75m tall giant (I know, it does sound painful for the tree). Other karri trees, some of the tallest on earth surround you as you climb. When you finally reach the top, you will be rewarded with an amazing view of an ancient forest and also knowing that your life preservation skills are working fine. It's a thrilling experience so enjoy the moment!

UPDATE : From 1 Aug 2024 till further notice, you may log a Find at the first platform 20m above ground. When the highest canopy deck is ready, logging requirement will revert to the original, which is climbing to the highest platform.

Not valid for now -- [To log a Found:
Go to the highest deck and take a picture of yourself and/or a piece of paper, or palm bearing your username and date with the horizon showing the tree tops in the background. Post the picture with your log. And yayyy, you did it!!

If you stopped at the middle deck, you may still log a found but in addition to the picture requirement, complete this sentence in your log: "I really wanted to climb all the way up but...." (I will believe anything). Be warned, you may carry with you the regret of not going to the top, for the rest of your life.]

If you climbed 5 rods (or anywhere below the middle deck) please log with Write Note.

Anything else may be removed...

Note:
*A person of average fitness can do the climb if you summon up your courage.
*Do not carry a bag but have your mobile or camera secured
*There are no safety harnesses or net.
*Till date, there have not been any accidents, but apparently two people had heart attacks.
*If in doubt, do not climb.
