Caldes de Montbui és una vila que, a poc més de 25 km de Barcelona, gira des de temps remots entorn de l'aigua calenta.Té el privilegi de ser el primer poble termal de Catalunya i de posseir les termes romanes més ben conservades de la península Ibèrica. Aquest atractiu es completa amb altres al·licients que fan de la vila termal un centre turístic, cultural, esportiu i natural. Disposa d'una bona situació geogràfica, un clima suau i unes aigües que brollen a 74 °C de temperatura, una de les més elevades d’Europa. A la coordenada hi trobareu dos dels monuments més emblemàtics de la vila, les termes romanes i la Font del Lleó. Les termes romanes de Caldes de Montbui són les termes romanes més importants i més ben conservades de la Península. El conjunt està compost d'una piscina envoltada de galeries cobertes per voltes de mig punt. Segurament van ser usades amb anterioritat pels ibers com a aigües termals, però van ser els romans els que van construir les primeres termes. Des d'aquesta època, el poble de Caldes de Montbui es va convertir en una estació termal al voltant de la qual es va desenvolupar un important nucli urbà. Són un dels pocs restes que es conserven a Europa de conjunts termals romans. La piscina termal que es conserva data del segle I a C, i era només una part del gran conjunt que hi havia en temps dels romans. Per ara coneixem 11 àmbits del conjunt termal romà, encara que possiblement quedin molts més per trobar. Respecte a la seva cronologia, les primeres estructures de les termes són del segle II aC i els inicis del segle I aC. L'ús de les termes sempre ha estat medicinal i existien diversos conjunts on es desenvolupaven diferents activitats relacionades amb la higiene, l'oci i tractaments terapèutics. L’aigua calenta de la Font del Lleó surten de l'interior de la terra a una temperatura de 74 ° C. És una de les fonts més calentes d'Europa. L'aigua termal que emana es dirigeix cap als safareigs públics, construïts al segle XIX i compten amb la singularitat que encara avui estan en funcionament. La font del Lleó (Font del Lleó), va ser construïda l'any 1581 i va patir dues remodelacions en 1822y el 1927. L'aigua que surt d'aquesta font no varia mai en quantitat i conté clor, fluor, brom i iode. Són aigües d'origen geològic profund i se les relaciona amb falles volcàniques. En general, estimulen l'organisme i se solen utilitzar en reumatologia, dermatologia, afeccions respiratòries cròniques i en estats d'esgotament psicofísic. La civilització romana va impulsar el model de vila termal com un concepte d'Oci. En el tercer mil·lenni s'imposen les viles termals i les rutes saludables com terapèutica a l'estrès urbà. Caldes de Montbui té el privilegi de ser la primera vila termal de Catalunya. Actualment hi ha un nombre considerable de balnearis oberts al públic que fan que Caldes continuï sent la primera estació termal de Catalunya.
