Höhle Aspri Petra
Vermutlich die erste Ansiedlung auf Kos mit großartigem Ausblick
Unberührt vom Touristentrubel liegt die Höhle Aspri Petra (=weißer Stein) auf der Halbinsel Kefalos. Schon von weitem kannst du das weiße Felsenfenster auf dem Berg Zini erkennen, darunter versteckt eine kleine Höhle, die den Menschen in der Jungsteinzeit als Wohnstätte diente. Hier fand man auch die ältesten Zeugnisse menschlichen Lebens auf der Insel Kos, darunter Tongefäße, Speerspitzen und andere Gebrauchsgegenstände.
Du kannst in die Höhle Aspri Petra über einige Felsen hineinklettern und in ihrem kühlen Inneren auch aufrecht stehen. Es liegen einige Ziegenköttel herum und die Höhle an sich ist recht unspektakulär.
In Richtung Südwesten blickst du auf die Spitze von Kos. Direkt unterhalb am Kap Routhianos mit seinem alten verrosteten Ladekran schimmert das Meer türkisblau. Auf der anderen Seite erkennst du bei guter Sicht das Dikeos-Gebirge und im Südosten die Inseln Nisyros und Gyali.
So kommst du zur Höhle Aspri Petra und zum Cache:
Die Höhle liegt etwa fünf Kilometer südwestlich des Ortes Kefalos auf der gleichnamigen Halbinsel.
Am angegebenen Parkplatz siehst du auf der linken Seite ein kleines Schild,peile von diesem Schild 262 Meter in 73,6 Grad und du kommst zur Höhle Aspri Petra und dann zum Cache. Oben am Berg kannst du schon das weiße Steinfenster erkennen. Du läufst bis zur Höhle nur 5-8 Minuten. Da sich einiges an Geröll vor der Höhle Aspri Petra und dem Steinbogen befindet über das du klettern muss, empfehle ich dir unbedingt festes Schuhwerk. Viel Spaß beim erkunden.

Cave Aspri Petra
Probably the first settlement on Kos with a great view
Untouched by the tourist bustle is the cave Aspri Petra (= white stone) on the peninsula Kefalos. From afar you can see the white rock window on Mount Zini, below which hides a small cave that served as a dwelling place for people in the Neolithic Age. Here you will also find the oldest evidence of human life on the island of Kos, including pottery, spearheads and other utensils.
You can climb into the cave Aspri Petra over some rocks and stand upright in its cool interior. There are some goat kitties around and the cave itself is quite unspectacular.
Towards the southwest, you are looking at the top of Kos. Directly below Cape Routhianos with its old rusted loading crane, the sea shimmers turquoise blue. On the other side you can see the Dikeos Mountains in good visibility and the islands of Nisyros and Gyali in the southeast.
So you come to the cave Aspri Petra and the cache:
The cave is located about five kilometers southwest of the place Kefalos on the peninsula of the same name.
At the indicated parking lot you will see a small sign on the left side, peile from this sign 262 meters in 73,6 degrees and you will come to the cave Aspri Petra and then to the cache. At the top of the mountain you can already see the white stone window. You walk to the cave only 5-8 minutes. Since there is a lot of boulders in front of the cave Aspri Petra and the stone arch over which you have to climb, I strongly recommend you sturdy shoes. Have fun exploring.
