Geocache Description:

This Cache offers terrain challenges for the hardy souls but also can be taken in by the family. Ancient sea bed fossil treasures are very plentiful for the taking.

When approaching the coordinates you will find a parking spot where two modern paths of transportation cross. Once you have exited your vehicle look in a Northerly direction across tracks and road and observe the rock slide. Yes, it's up there.
Some Climbing (No special equipment required)
Generated by The Selector
The correct section of the slide is where the slide meets the road (not the tracks)right at the crossing. You may want to move around a bit to let your GPS aquire it's target before acending. SPECIAL NOTE: As you are covering most of the distance vertically, coordinate orientation changes little. Trust your Geocacher instincts. This Cache is a very short but very verticle distance from the roadway. Sturdy climbing shoes are highly recommended for the ascent to the Cache. Let the kiddies explore (with supervision)at the bottom of the slide and all along the rightaway. The Cache is only about 40 yards up the left side of the slide just beyond a small flat spot with a pine tree. The Cache is VERY WELL hidden in an Ammo Box with appropiate markings. Please rehide carefully to avoid plundering as many non-cachers prowl this area. Once you have found the Cache, signed the log and utilized the cache camera take the time to look around. You will find marine fossils everywhere. From bean size to very large slabs. You can also find large rocks with exposed strata of several sea beds. For a real workout keep going higher to find even bigger exposed areas, but be careful. There is also a little vista towards the top. I hope you enjoy and take a "souviner" home with you. BE CAREFUL !!!!
