Geocache Description:

Bear Creek Redwoods Open Space Preserve is now open to the public! They've opened over six miles of new trails on the west side of Bear Creek Road. The hike is beautiful, with all sorts of cool old relics to discover along the way. This cache is just past an old building site that you can see from the Alma Trail, about half a mile from parking. There's an old fence, a stone wall, and a couple of old stoves. There's also a giant redwood tree that smashed right into the middle of the site. Pretty cool!

To find the cache, pass the site (as you're heading uphill) and look for an access road that heads back in that direction. It's very clear and easy to follow. I've included a waypoint for where to leave the trail. You're looking for a small container hidden next to the remains of an old concrete foundation. After about 250 feet on the road, look for a large, slightly burned redwood, then look to the left of the redwood for the foundation.

Here's a trail map of Bear Creek Redwoods.

Bear Creek Redwoods is open half an hour before sunrise to half an hour after sunset. Bicycles and dogs are not allowed.

Happy hunting!

Congrats to mswma on the first FTFs in the new preserve!
