Aujourd'hui petit ruisseau, l'Argance était autrefois beaucoup plus large. Il alimentait les lavoirs avant de se jeter dans le Loir.
Au moyen âge, l'étang appelé Hate Vilain fournissait poissons et eau aux moulins. Puis il fut asséché et transformé en jardins familiaux.
