The second geocache in my "Park's History" series

In 1995, the "Pause for Peace Community Committee" (disbanded 22/10/1996) suggested that a park on the Central Coast be named to commemorate the 50th anniversary of the United Nations offically coming into force on 24 October 1945 as well as 50 years since the Hiroshima and Nagasaki bombings.

The committee also organised Pause for Peace Day for October 22 1995 which would take place at this park.

Councillor Barlow, who also chairs the commitee, suggested the park on Fredrick street as it is a well known park without an official name and that it be called "Peace Park" where Pause for Peace Day would take place.

Gosford City Counil along with the Geographical Names Board approved the name officially at the 26 September 1995 council meeting, and the park was officially given the title on 24 November 1995.
