There once was a little book who sat on the shelf at the local library. The Little Book got so excited each day people came into the library, Little Book thought he'd get picked to go home with someone for a visit. Everyday he got excited and hopeful when people came in, and everyday he got so sad when the people all left without him. Then one day a man came and picked up Little Book. Little Book was so excited! He thought it was strange though when the man put him on a pile where there were some other books,crumpled papers, and paper that was all shredded...oh no! shredded! The man lifted Little Book up and looked at poor Little Books ripped pages and stained cover , he muttered about how it was just taking up space. Little Book got so frightened as the man walked towards the paper shredder. He set Little Book down as he bent to plug in the shredder, and then....loud whirring sounds started as the shredders teeth started turning, and up,up,up over the shredder he then lifted Little Book. this was the end of Little Book-but wait! A boy came in and the man stopped and turned away from the shredder and said hello to the boy. "Hello", said the boy, "what are you doing?" he asked. The man said he was shredding old garbage noone wanted. The boy said to the man, "but thats a book!" The man said its ruined noone wants it. The boy saw the cover on Little Book and realized, "Thats one of my favorite little books ever! Can I please take it home?" The man said fine and gave the boy Little Book. Little book was so very relieved after dangling above a shredder!
The boy took Little Book up to his room and carefully taped each ripped page and he wiped off the cover as best he could. The boy then took Little Book and set him on his bedroom shelf where all of his other books were standing. Little Book was very happy to make new friends, there was big book, tree book,car book, space rocket book, and a funny looking wise old book- Old Book had a lot of really neat things inside!
The boy read Little Book each night before bed. Little Book was so happy to have a new home with new friends and someone who would take care of him!
