Geocache Description:

The cache is NOT at the listed coordinates. Make sure you read all of this page before setting out on this adventure.
To find this cache you first need a Wherigo enabled GPS device or a smartphone that has a compatible app. A map will also be useful.
You might be familiar with Wherigo caches. Well, this is a special type of cache called a reverse cache. We've no idea where the reverse comes from, so just ignore the 'reverse' bit.

This cache should remind you of the game played as a child where some object was hidden, and as you looked for it your parents would shout "Warmer" when you got closer and "Colder" when you got further.

Download: The Reverse Geocache - Beta cartridge to your handheld device. This is a generic program that can be used to experience many geocaches of the 'reverse' type.

********** **********

At the Virtual Wherigo coordinates, you will find a wooden gate with a sign on it. The top of the sign will look like this:

The bottom of this sign will show:

Followed by the Telephone Number: Cambridge 8ABC88

When you are ready to attempt the "Take a Hike _ Reverse Cache", start the Reverse Geocache app on your device and enter the following numbers when prompted..

( These numbers are the encrypted coordinates for the cache position which will configure the program to guide you to the physical cache. )

The Wherigo player will display the distance from your current position to the cache. Just the distance, not the direction. Go to another sensible spot and note the distance again. Using triangulation, paper-and-pencil or intuition try to work out the best place to visit to get you closer... Repeat until you get close to the cache.

When you are within 25 metres of the target the program displays the actual coordinates so you can now find the geocache using your GPS.

At the Final, you will also get a personal password which you can enter into the Code Generator if you select "create" instead of "play" at the start of the cartridge. Save this code. Then if you want to, you can build your own reverse cache wherever you want in the world. The password is stored in your inventory. (Just tell Waldmeister about your plans!).
