Jarrett Falls, is near McConnellsburg. Follow the Jarrett trail and you could get 6 smilies. There are 5 bison tubes on the trail to make sure you stay on the trail and an ammo box near the fall. The hike is about 2,4 mile one way, start at the parking area and walk across the dam to the spillway, here you will see a marker to the Jarrett trail. Turn left and hike down the trail, after some time you will come to a small foot bridge, turn left and hike down to the clearing, hike into the wood on the left side of the creek. After a short time you will come to a bridge crossing Roaring Run, continue the hike downstream on the opposite side. After hiking for a short time, you will come to the first wet crossing. Two trees have fallen across the creek, once on the other side, there is a wooden ladder, use that to the top of the bank. After hiking for a short distance, you will get to a big rock, now turn right toward the creek and hike down the bank. At the creek you will need to cross the creek once again, a steel cable is here to help you to get to the other side. Hike for a short time and you are at Jarrett Fall, there are a few fallen trees along the trail, but you can get over or under them. There are also two creek crossings, depending on the water high, you should be able to cross with dry feet most of the year. Wear orange in hunting season, spray for ticks.
ADDED TEXT FROM NEW CO APRIL 2023:
I just wanted to add a few things to maybe make the hike more clear so you can stay on trail. The trail is fairly easy to follow, it's well-worn. There are red blazes in some places to help you stay on trail, but not enough to be reliable. So if you see a red blaze, you're good! If you feel like you lost the trail, just follow the stream as the falls is along the same stream you're hiking in by. The cache is at the top of the falls, but in order to get a better view, I have added a waypoint for a steel cable that is there to help you to cross the creek.
I HAVE COUNTED 7 CREEK CROSSINGS:
1) Ar the trailhead (use the Len Miller bridge to cross)
2) Between #2 & #3 (use footbridge to cross)
3)Between #2 & #3 (no help, use rocks to "rock-hop" to cross)
4) At #3 (use bridge to cross)
5) Right before #5 (no help, use rocks to "rock-hop" to cross)
6) Between #5 & final (use the steel cable to cross on rocks)
7) Before final (this crossing is optional, use the steel cable to cross the creek on a fallen log to get a better view of the falls)
