In our latest backroads adventure, we began to notice signs: “Conservation Corridor!” After more research, we found these corridors are efforts of conservation districts all over the world, to provide a natural space through which wildlife can safely travel.
One source says a “conservation corridor provides a safe habitat for wildlife to move through open agricultural land and acts as a buffer to slow and capture any sediment or nutrient-rich runoff.”
We decided to consult with the Intermountain Conservation District because we wondered about the wisdom of attracting more human activity near these corridors. It was decided it would be acceptable to bring attention to this excellent work, furthering conservation.
It was a delight to stand not far from one of these signs and to notice favoured wildflowers... it was the thought of preserving places for these pushes me to place geocaches nearby the entrances to several of these corridors to heighten respect for the efforts being made to preserve and protect.
PLEASE search with care, leaving as minuscule an eco footprint as possible. Enjoy the area, taking only pictures or mind memories...
