This geocache is located in The Cornelia and Florence Bridge Nature Preserve, located on Twin Lakes Road just off of Route 6, approximately a 5 minute drive west of Milford. The cache is located within 10 feet of a trail - PLEASE STAY ON TRAILS AND DO NOT BUSHWACK. This geocache is one of eight caches that were placed in this park and named after one the many plants/trees which are abundant in the park. This geocache is hidden along the Florence Trail and is a soda bottle preform container.
There is a kiosk at the trailhead in the parking lot that has a map of the park. Paper copies of the map are also available to take in the bins below the map. Various pamphlets are also available to take at the kiosk including a Plant Identification Guide to identify the various types of trees and plants that are found in the preserve.
Dogs are allowed on leashes and you will probably see many people walking their dogs as you proceed down the trails. I haven't seen any, but in the trail description, they do warn you to watch for Rattlesnakes. I was talking to a local who has been hiking these trails for about 4 or 5 years and she said in that time she only saw one rattlesnake, and he was right out in the open sunning himself on the pavement near the bathroom. In the meadow area (near the western center of the preserve) is a large pavilion with picnic tables and a bathroom (pit toilet).
This property was originally owned by Charles Bridge and was donated to Dingman Township in August 2007. After his death in December 2008, the Bridge Family bequeath funds from his estate to assist the township with the development of public access to the property. The Bridge Family wanted to share the beautiful natural features of this property with the public for everyone to enjoy. This nature preserve is made up of woodlands, meadows, viewsheds, and a variety of wildlife. There are several trails that meander through the property (take the paper trail map for the latest map of trails) and the trail surfaces range from stone dust, to mulch, and grassy trails. All the geocaches are hidden within 10 feet of a trail, so please be sure to stay on the trails and not to bushwack off trail.
