There are many ways to arrive in Inuvik, NWT. I got there by driving my SUV on a wet and muddy road, but you might fly in by airplane or take a hot air balloon. Maybe you arrive by sea on a boat, ship or canoe. Or you might travel overland on foot, snowshoeing, skiing, horseback, bicycle, motorcycle, camper, RV, truck, snow machine, or dog sled. The possibilities are seemingly endless! My “drive” up the Dempster in 2003 was reminiscent of my first time on the AlCan the summer of 1956 -- both are memories that I’ll cherish forever. No matter your method of transportation, your arrival says that you’re ready for an adventure, so Congratulations! Uncle Bill
In order to log this cache when it was first published one had to discover the Dempster Highway travel bug (304635) that was attached to the old wooden sign Located at N68*02.852 W133*4.802 I imagine the Travel Bug is still available for a Virtual Discovery. (Thank You Katmanduu)
To log this virtual cache today it's important to read the HINT: FOR YOUR "FOUND IT" LOG, POST A PICTURE OF YOURSELF, or YOUR GPS DEVICE, WITH THE SIGN IN THE BACKGROUND.. Inuvik has this new welcoming sign but I was really partial to the old painted wooden “Welcome to Inuvik- End of the Dempster” sign, which I believe won't be replaced, but if it ever is then a picture at either will do. I just want to know that you've been here.
YES, I'M AWARE THAT YOU CAN PHOTOSHOP BOTH TO SATISFY MY EASY REQUIREMENTS, BUT THAT'S JUST NOT FAIR...
