One can get there by driving down the old Highway three towards emerald lake and parking in the gravel lot at the end. This geocache is an easy stroll up the old dirt road that has since been blocked off to prevent off road use. The cache container is a rubbermaid container.
Crownest Pass is where my father grew up and spends his summers now. This year my nephews and my sister are spending the entire summer there and with that I thought it would be nice to get the boys into geocaching when I was there to visit. This is a perfect cache for a family with younger children as it is an easy stroll and contains childrens toys to trade for in addition to the log book.
This place has always been special to me having spent many summers there visiting my grandparents, who at one time ran a tailor and then the pepsi bottling plant. After you have visited the cache, if you hike a little further you can get a wonderful view of Emerald Lake.
