Geocache Description:

Simple access by automobile off(HWY 101)or boat(Lake Timiskaming). I placed the cache by boat, but I know there is road access but I'm not sure of the roads condition.(CAUTION)See Opimican Access Image.

The Opimican Geocache is in a medium sized container with a tan coloured lid within a plastic bag. The contents are yours to discover.

The Opimican Geocache was created as a tribute to my time spent on Lake Timiskaming. I have been residing at the Haileybury Beach Motel during the months of July and August 2002 as a member of the survey team from the Canadian Hydrographic Service (CHS), Surveying Lake Timiskaming.

I have enjoyed the past few months and have explored every bay, creek and town associated with Lake Timiskaming. I have placed this Geocache here because of the historical significance to the Lake.

Spend some time exploring around this gem. This historic site was built in 1883. The site is an old shipbuilding yard, which became an important center for the log floating industry on Lake Timiskaming.

The last log floated on Lake Timiskaming was in 1976...
