Antiga Central de Captação de Água da Foz do Sousa / Former Water Supply Plant of Foz do Sousa
(PT) A Antiga Central de Captação de Água da Foz do Sousa foi classificada como MIP - Monumento de Interesse Público a 19 de Abril de 2010.
Trata-se de um edifício composto por três núcleos, cuja construção se situa nos fins do século XIX, mais concretamente em 1882, a partir de um projecto francês que decorre da concessão de abastecimento domiciliário de água à cidade do Porto, à Compagnie Générale des Eaux pour l’Étranger.
A presente classificação da Antiga Central de Captação de Água da Foz do Sousa como monumento de interesse público, juntamente com o equipamento que dela fazem parte — maquinaria de captação e elevação, filtros e canais de turbinas — fundamenta-se no inegável interesse arquitectónico do edifício, no modo como se insere no território envolvente, este também carregado de significado paisagístico, devendo ainda, acrescentar-se o interesse histórico relacionado com a história e evolução da cidade do Porto, constituindo um bem de valor técnico-científico com grande relevância para a investigação.
(ENG) The Old Water Collection Center of Foz do Sousa was classified as MIP - Monument of Public Interest on April 19, 2010.
It is a three-storey building whose construction dates back to the end of the 19th century, more specifically in 1882, based on a French project that resulted from the concession of water supply to the city of Porto, the Compagnie Générale des Eaux pour l'Étranger.
The present classification of the Old Water Collection Center of Foz do Sousa as a monument of public interest, along with the equipment that forms part of it - machinery of capture and elevation, filters and channels of turbines - is based on the undeniable architectural interest of the building , as well as the historical interest related to the history and evolution of the city of Oporto, constituting a property of technical-scientific value with great relevance for investigation.
